Levada do Alecrim (PR6.2) and Lagoa do Vento

Starting at the same point as the famous 25 Fontes walk, the Levada do Alecrim climbs gently through the upper Rabaçal valley to a small lagoon, the Lagoa da Dona Beja. It is quieter, greener and just as beautiful.

The route

The PR6.2 follows the Levada do Alecrim upstream to the spring that feeds the Lagoa da Dona Beja, a small pool under a waterfall where some walkers take a cold dip. The PR6.3 Vereda da Lagoa do Vento leaves from near the Rabaçal shelter and leads to the Lagoa do Vento waterfall; a junction connects it with the Alecrim trail, so both can be combined.

Tips

Do the Alecrim first thing in the morning and the 25 Fontes afterwards, or use it as a calmer alternative when 25 Fontes is crowded. Check booking requirements on the SIMplifica portal before you go.
