What you can see and when

Bottlenose and common dolphins are seen year-round. Atlantic spotted dolphins are more frequent in summer, and spring and summer are the best seasons for larger species such as Bryde's and sperm whales. Sightings are never guaranteed, but many operators offer a free second trip if you see nothing.

Catamaran or RIB boat?

Catamarans are more stable and comfortable, with shade and toilets: better for families and anyone prone to seasickness. Fast RIB boats reach the animals sooner and bring you closer to the water. Choose operators that follow responsible whale-watching rules and keep a respectful distance.
